چکیده

An approach to support activities in collaborative databases is proposed. This approach merges exible transaction models from collaborative environments and semantics based cor-rectness criteria. A model is rst presented which incorporates the notion of collaboration in the context of transactions. A protocol is then developed based on this model for eecient management of collaborative activities. This is the rst attempt to formally incorporate the notion of collaboration in the database management system. Most earlier approaches provide tools and mechanisms to circumvent the isolation requirement of transactions. The protocol is a generalization of strict two phase locking since in the absence of collaboration, it reduces to strict two-phase locking.

A Service Oriented Architecture for Coordination in Collaborative Environments

An important feature in collaborative environment is coordination, defined as the act of managing interdependencies between activities performed to achieve a goal. These interdependencies can be the result of loosely integrated collaborative activities (the use of coordination processes within the collaboration activities is not required) or tightly integrated collaborative activities (sophisti...

Managing Inter-Activities in CSCW: Supporting Users Emerging Needs in the COOLDA Platform

The CSCW research domain still tries to find a better way for supporting the users needs. Some groupware systems propose global and integrated environments supporting collaborative activities, but empirical studies show that these environments usually omit to support some dimensions of the work. On the other hand, some groups work with diverse applications that do not know each other. Mainly in...
